Dave grew up in Colorado playing the sax and avoiding piano lessons like the plague. At around 14 yrs old, something clicked and he started learning piano by ear. He was immediately hooked. He soon had the opportunity to study privately under Dr. “Bud” Fields (Julliard) for a year.

After moving to SLC, Dave studied Jazz at the University of Utah with the eclectic Lloyd “Doc” Miller. Dave left school to open Vertigo Studios music production company where he recorded and produced several local albums. Dave also created original music and sound design for radio, film, stage, multimedia and surround sound planetarium shows.

Also during this period, Dave was signed to Odyssey Records where he had a solo new age piano release entitled “The Ageless”. Dave also played with various bands in SLC, including fronting the rock fusion group “5.14” and playing keys with the Salsa/Meringue group “Los Birlos”.

After returning to Denver, Dave finally dusted off his old Hammond C2 and is thrilled to be making his Denver music debut with the incredible Buckner Funken Jazz Band!
