Okay, so maybe it
only SEEMS like yesterday…not-quite-famous professional touring
musician trashes his voice, abandons the traveling entertainer passi on,
turns to computer wizardry as a lesser of employment evils. A man’s
gotta make a livin’ – even if it’s not performing.
Segue from the sepia tones of “then” to the color of
“now” and you find Bobby Cole back behind keys, mics, and consoles once
again. San Francisco ingénue jazz vocalist Nichole Cheri coaxed him out
of self-imposed musical reclusion and exile to share her stage
backline.
Six years later Bobby traded California for Colorado.
Just left. Hasn’t looked back. Worked the local Denver club circuit
with Scotty McWalter and Burning Abigail and with Jimmy Morgan and The
Receders. After an all-too-brief year-and-a-half with The Receders,
Bobby
Cole dropped out of music again for two years only to decide in a moment
of self-aggrandizing lunacy to audition for Buckner Funken Jazz.
Look, it made perfect sense at the time – Buckner Funken
Jazz was the only band in Colorado he’d really like to work for.
Hey, he knew he certainly wasn’t good enough to work with BFJ – but he
barricaded himself in their rehearsal studio and they couldn’t get rid
of him.
Now, Buckner Funken Jazz has a new keyboardist in the
lineup, a new CD in the works and Bobby Cole’s got a new itch to
scratch. “Cut!! All right, everybody -- that’s a wrap!”
Bobby Welcome to Buckner Funken Jazz
now lets do some FUNKEN !
